Time to Design

To date, I've avoided getting too personal in this tiny corner of the internet. It's difficult to be vulnerable, but this certainly feels like the right time and place. Just a few days ago, I was laid off from my 9-to-5 job. Even when it has no reflection on your personal performance, that still feels like a punch to the gut. In these moments in life, I think we have a choice to make: will we see this as a door closing or one opening?

I've lived enough to know that even in devastating moments you can often find something resembling opportunity. I'm choosing to take this life change to focus on the things that bring me the most joy: family, friends, long walks on the beach, cooking, and of course design. Creating spaces is my passion. For me, a sense of place keeps me grounded and I need that in order to do all the scary things life throws my way. I weather storms by hunkering down at home where I can laugh, cry, yell, and just generally be myself. Because I've found a sanctuary in my home, I want to help others build a sense of place that gives them the same comfort.

I'll be leaning in here more and ramping up EDD. I hope you'll consider coming along for the ride. The support from the community here means everything to me. Thank you for reading this, thank you for choosing to follow along on my adventure, and thank you for making it possible for me to do the work I truly love doing.

There will be a lot more content coming to the blog soon. If you haven't already, I would very much appreciate you adding your email in the field below. I promise, no spam! Just occasional updates from me and of course lots of fun design tips, tricks, and advice. I can't wait to share my design journey with you!
