Nursery Tour

Being the perfectionist that I am, I went back and forth about posting a nursery tour because it isn't "done" yet. Truth be told, I'm never really done with a room, but it seemed time, with Baby J's due date just a week away, that I share the almost finished nursery. If you see some pieces you love, be sure to scroll to the bottom to find all the product links!

As those of you who have been following along on Instagram know, we did a complete renovation overhaul on the second floor of The Judkins House this past summer. This room had been used as a guest bedroom previously, but with a crumbling plaster ceiling and ugly paneled walls, it was certainly time for an upgrade. We closed off one of two doorways into this room to allow for more space for furniture placement and my handy husband added beautiful built-ins to the existing eaves space, which now house stuffed animals and our small but quickly growing collection of children's books.

I knew I wanted to create what is commonly called a "gender neutral" nursery, so I landed on a soft sage green for the walls and a slightly lighter green for the trim. It's a small room, but the darker color makes it feel cozy and allows for the white furniture pieces to pop.

Next up was the rug, on which I centered the rest of the design. This wool beauty is thick and cozy under foot and will be easy to clean when we have an inevitable messy moment. I love how the colors and pattern bring energy to the space without feeling childish. This will be a rug that can grow with our family for years to come!

Since the rug is such a statement I chose to keep the rest of the room on the quieter side. Shades of white and ivory along with interesting textural pieces like the antique mirror and the patterned lamp on the dresser keep the simple furniture from feeling bland.

I would have loved a glider, but alas our narrow doorways wouldn't allow it, so I ended up with this beautiful tufted rocker. I love how inviting it is, and I can't wait to sit and read bedtime stories here.

I hope you enjoyed this peek into our new space. We are all so excited to meet the newest family member, Kona especially! If you aren't already following me on Instagram and Facebook, be sure to give me a follow so you'll get all the baby updates. If you, too, are expecting, let me know! I'd love to help you create a warm, inviting space for you and your little one.
